This commission is of the view that certified copies of attendance record, information about the salary of a government employee, certified copy of the contract of employment, certified copy of the letter of relieving from job are public documents. As such, the Appellant has the right to have access to this information/records.
This commission also holds that salary slip of an employee contains private information, such as CNIC number and account number which should not be divulged by public bodies. In other words, citizens have the right to know about details pertaining to salary paid, each month, during the contract period, to an employee.
