Order on Appeal No 1632-01/22 Saifullah Saif Vs Allama Iqbal Open University

This commission holds that the Respondent has the right to know BPS of other candidates who applied for any government post. Furthermore, this Commission has maintained in its earlier Orders that all records available with public bodies pertaining to the evaluation of candidates during recruitment process are public documents and should also be provided to the Appellant. Similarly, if an official is restored on his or her post, all documents pertaining to such restoration are public documents and be provided to the Appellant.

This commission has held through its earlier Orders as well that pay-slip should be provided to the Appellant blanking out private information.

This commission also holds that detail of different bills signed by Dr. Sher as head of both the departments (Director PPU and Chairman Agricultural Sciences) is public information and should be provided to the Appellant.

This commission also maintains that the requested information about trees cut down and auction of those trees is of public importance and should be provided.

The Respondent has denied access to requested information pertaining to fuel and repair expenditures of vehicles on the ground that the time-period has not been mentioned. However, the Appellant has clarified the time-period in his rejoinder and as such this information should also be provided.

This commission holds that the amount of loan taken and returned by an official is public information as this loan is a privilege under Section 5 (1€ of the Act which is as under:
